Froch will return to the Capital FM Arena in his home town of Nottingham, site of his emphatic title win over Lucian Bute, for his first defence.
Should he retain the belt, his second defence will be the contractually-obligated rematch against Bute - whom Froch stopped in the fifth round on May 26 - in Le Tombeur's home town of Montreal.
Promoter Eddie Hearn announced on his official Twitter account: "Morning all..just to let you know, details and dates for Carl Froch's next fight will be released today but we will now announce opponent at the Matchroom media day on Tuesday 28th August. Tickets will go on sale at 3pm the same day."
