Hibernian have made a bid to sign Scunthorpe midfielder Michael O'Connor, according to the npower League One club's manager Alan Knill.
Knill confirmed Hibs had approached the Iron about O'Connor, a 24-year-old Northern Ireland international.
"We've had an offer," Knill said on the BBC website. "I spoke to the Hibs boss Pat Fenlon late last week about a general inquiry."
He added: "In the meantime, they've made an offer and the board is considering it. At the moment he's our player until the end of the season."
Hibs are one point off the foot of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League and seeking to strengthen to climb clear of bottom club Dunfermline.
Fenlon has also been assessing Gambia international Pa Saikou Kujabi, recent Rangers trialist Jorge Claros and South African midfielder Matthew Pattison.
