On a day when it was better to be on the track than in the stands, the two-year-old No Nay Never and the four-year-old Romantica stole the show.
No Nay Never showed the full extent of his talent, winning having led virtually the whole way. But Guyon also flexed his muscles two furlongs from the end of another Group 1 to get the better of Christophe-Patrice Lemaire.
Trained by American Wesley Ward and ridden by Mexican jockey David Flores, No Nay Never racked up a third successive win since April.
It was another win for Smith, Magnier and Tabor, the three owners who are currently third in the UK winnings table, and who had already won the event in 2008, with Bushranger.
This performance brought him close to André Fabre’s favourite jockey, Guyon, who won three times on Sunday. The Frenchman sits atop of the rankings for Deauville this year, with 16 winning finishes so far.
