    Laverty wins Knockhill race two

Michael Laverty continued to show that he is the form man in this year’s British Superbike campaign as he collected a fourth-straight podium finish in style with victory in race two at Knockhill.

The Samsung Honda rider failed to secure a top-three finish in the opening three rounds of the season but all that changed last time out at Snetterton with a second and a first to celebrate.

And there was more to cheer in round five as he followed up a third-place finish in race one with victory in the second to move him on to 122 points in the overall standings.

Race one winner Shane Byrne was forced to settle for second in race two but he did move into second in the overall standings on 153 points, just six behind leader Tommy Hill who completed the podium with a third-place finish.

Hill was starting in pole position for the second time at Knockhill in race two and made sure he made the most of it this time around as he led into the first corner.

The Swan Yamaha rider held on to his lead for the first ten laps and looked like he could claim victory as Byrne and Laverty fought for second behind him.

But on lap 12 Laverty, who had shaken off the challenge of Byrne, found a way past Hill to lead the race, a position he never relinquished.

And there was more bad news for Hill just a lap later as he slipped back another place as Byrne got past him into second.
