Lay day number four at Teahupo'o

Minimal surf forced organisers to call a fourth successive lay day at the Billabong Pro Tahiti, with action unlikely to recommence until late in the weekend.

An unfavourable swell pattern has blighted the fifth event on the ASP World Championship Tour after two successful opening days of surfing.

"As expected, surf remains small today and we’ve call a lay day for competition,” Rich Porta, ASP international head judge, said.

Flat or near-flat conditions are expected on Wednesday and into Thursday, with a slight pick-up on Friday followed by medium-sized swells by Sunday and Monday.

"The next few days look like they’ll have similar conditions and we’re still tracking a model that could provide waves for the last two days of the waiting period. We’ll be back each day to reassess and make a call then,” Porta added.
