New GP2 team Lazarus has announced former Auto GP racer Fabrizio Crestani as its first driver signing for 2012.
Lazarus was confirmed last week as a new addition to the GP2 field, taking the place of former F3000 title-winning squad Super Nova.
Team principal Tancredi Pagiaro said: "I'm really delighted to welcome Fabrizio. I know him very well; last year in Auto GP he demonstrated to everyone his potential and I'm sure he will do the same in GP2."
Crestani finished sixth in the Auto GP standings last year, taking four podium finishes and one pole position.
The Italian thanked his team boss for having faith in him, adding: "A very special thanks goes to Tancredi. He has always believed in my potential, and we have a very close relationship.
"Now I am eager to start the new season. Racing in GP2 is a dream come true. I know it will be hard, but I'm impatient to start testing and be competitive right from the start."
