Lewis Hamilton was left red-faced last week when he accused his teammate Jenson Button for snubbing him on Twitter, only to find out that his fellow Brit and McLaren driver didn’t even follow him in the first place, but he’s now apologised and admitted that Twitter might not be a great tool for him.
The Formula 1 driver has made a number of embarrassing errors on the social networking site, including posting information about his and Button’s qualifying times for the Belgian Grand Prix earlier this year and now, Lewis has said sorry.
On Monday (October 8), Lewis wrote: "Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, that's a shame...I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn't."
The driver, who is moving to Mercedes next year, then wrote: "My bad just found out Jenson never followed me. Don't blame him!"
Following a number of news stories, and criticism drawn from his hasty tweet, Lewis reportedly said: "Obviously it was not the best of experiences (nor) the best thing to do. I put my hands up and apologised to Jenson.
"Maybe Twitter is not the one for me, but I'll try and improve from it."
While Jenson added: "You have to be careful what you put on Twitter. We've got over a million followers. It is what it is, and Lewis apologised to me."
But it looks as though Lewis is determined to improve his social networking skills, particularly on Twitter.
Ahead of the Korean Grand Prix this weekend, Lewis told BBC Sport: "In my life, I think I'm going to make lots of mistakes and that was one of them but you learn from them. I try to stay away from all the stories.
"Sure there's been a lot of heat this week. That's the price you pay for being in this sport. It was an experience which I'll hopefully learn from.
"Maybe Twitter and me don't go too well at the moment. I need to step back and think about how I try and improve that."
