The 21-year-old left-back, who is having his first pre-season with the first team as Emery continues his preparations at Rota in Cadiz, told the club’s official radio station he is hopeful of improving on last term, when he made 15 La Liga appearances towards the end of the campaign.
“A lot of nice things have happened to me in such a short time so now I must continue to improve and keep working hard.
“I’m looking forward to earning a regular place in the side, which is what I want,” explained the Sevilla-born player.
“It’s an honour I’ve been received with open arms and I still can’t believe it. I’ve had some great times with both Sevilla and the national team in the last five months and I’ve got to get used to it.
“Last year I was on the verge of making the pre-season with the first team, so this year I need to take advantage of this opportunity.
“I’m still young with much to learn and there is still a lot of work to do.”
Even so, Moreno is aware his main rival for a spot in the side is the experienced Fernando Navarro.
“We all know about Fernando and for me he is one of the greats. As a person he has helped me a lot with my football.
“Last year we were competing for a place and each year is different, but I’ll be fighting to get into the team,” he added.
