Barcelona are reportedly decided on Ter Stegen as their replacement for Valdes, with a verdict now due on when to sign him.
Valdes looks set to stay on at the Camp Nou for the final year of his contract which, in deciding not to renew, will then see him depart in June 2014.
Linked with Valencia’s Vicente Guaita and Liverpool’s Pepe Reina, Barca have reportedly decided that Borussia Monchengladbach’s rising talent Ter Stegen is their first choice.
Sport say that the club’s decision now is on what they decide is best for the 21-year-old’s development next season.
Barca are reportedly ready to purchase the player this summer, but are split on whether it is then best to allow him to stay with his Bundesliga club for another year on loan where he is guaranteed first team football, or if he comes to Barcelona to learn for a year under Valdes.
Ter Stegen is valued at €15m, whilst Monchengladbach’s sporting director is adamant that he will not be leaving.
“Ter Stegen has told various media that he will stay in Monchengladbach so we do not need to add any more,” Max Eberl said.
Sevilla are reportedly keen to bring in Barcelona’s Gerard Deulofeu for next season as a replacement for Manchester City-bound Jesus Navas.
In light of losing their 27-year-old star winger to the Premier League runners-up this summer, the Andalucians are apparently making moves to pick up Barca’s young attacker.
Deulofeu, who has 18 goals to his name for Barcelona B in the Segunda Division this year, has recently signed a new deal at the Camp Nou.
Part of that deal apparently has the Catalans keen to boost his experience elsewhere on loan, in a top-flight team abroad or in La Liga that can also offer European football.
Sevilla, who may benefit from European bans to Malaga and Rayo Vallecano to sneak into the Europa League, are said to be preparing to make a move for the 19-year-old, who this summer is representing Spain at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Real Sociedad and Borussia Dortmund have also both been linked with Deulofeu for next season.
Carles Puyol has reportedly told a Brazilian journalist that he believes David Villa is leaving Barcelona this summer.
The striker is about to enter the final year of his contract at Camp Nou and has been linked with a move out of the club for the past few months.
In conversation with a Brazilian journalist, who did not identify his profession to the player, Puyol reportedly admitted that the 31-year-old is leaving.
The exchange below began with discussing where new signing Neymar would fit in at the club.
“On the left wing, as he played at Santos,” Puyol commented.
“And who would play on the right?” asked the reporter Fabio Sormani.
“Pedro or Sanchez.”
“And Villa, is he leaving?”
“Yeah, but I do not know where he is going to.”
Sormani also posted on his Twitter account a picture of himself with Puyol at the alleged chance encounter.
Valencia are reportedly in advanced talks with Giovani dos Santos over a summer transfer and have placed an offer with his club Mallorca.
The Mexican international is set to leave the Iberostar Stadium this coming transfer window following on from Los Bermellones’ relegation from La Liga.
Los Che are reportedly keen to capture the 24-year-old former Barcelona youth and are apparently already in advanced talks with the player himself over a proposed deal.
Miroslav Djukic’s new team are said to have matched that with an offer of €6.7m to Mallorca for his playing rights.
Whilst Mallorca are seen as ready to wait for all offers to come in this summer before accepting the highest, Valencia are seen as holding an advantage in having Giovani allegedly already in agreement over the move.
