Luge - Russia appoint new luge coach

Russia have appointed Alexander Vasin as the country's luge team's new head coach.

Vasin, who succeeds Valeri Silakov in the post, coached Albert Demchenko to a silver medal at the World Championships.

He is charged with leading the Russian team to glory when they host the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014.

Wolfgang Schaedler of Liechtenstein and Germany’s Martin Hildebrand complete Russia's coaching staff.

The departing Silakov, a member of the International Luge Federation's executive board, moves to a role in which he will develop young luge talent in Russia.
