Luge - Zoeggeler to miss worlds through injury

Armin Zoeggeler has been ruled out of the luge World Championships in Whistler at the beginning of February with a back complaint.

It will be the first time the veteran Italian has missed the worlds since 1993, when as a 19-year-old he claimed fifth place.

The two-times Olympic champion, now 39, has six World Championship titles to his name, along with three silver medals and one bronze.

The championships in Canada run on February 1 and 2 with four luge events to be completed.
