Steven Naismith might not find out until next week whether he is banned for Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Wales next Friday.
FIFA's disciplinary committee are due to discuss a charge against the Everton player over his alleged elbow on Serbia's Srdjan Mijailovic.
Naismith was included in Craig Levein's squad for the double header against Wales and Belgium but the former Rangers player faces a potential three-match ban if found guilty.
A FIFA spokesperson said: "In total there are more than 80 different cases that will be heard.
"Once the committee has finished, the respective parties in the cases involved will be informed of the decisions taken. This could be next week."
Television pictures showed Naismith raising his arm towards Mijailovic in the goalless World Cup qualifier at Hampden on September 8.
The incident was not included in the referee or match delegate's report but FIFA later launched an inquiry after being made aware of the off-the-ball incident.
The 26-year-old could also miss the away game against Serbia in March if given the maximum ban.
