Adcock and White, back competing together having not played regularly since 2011, lost in straight sets 21-13 21-17 to the Chinese pair who won silver at the London 2012 Olympics. After defeating European champions Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Zieba in round two, Adcock and White were full of confidence and matched their opponents up to 8-8 in the first game before they pulled away. And, although Adcock and White raced into a 7-1 lead in the second game, Xu and Ma responded to draw level at 8-8 and eventually sealed victory in 43 minutes to progress to the semi-finals. Next up for Adcock and White is next week's Malaysian Open, the second of five Premier events which are all part of the 2013 BWF World Superseries.
