Pechalat will undergo surgery on Thursday and her training programme will be adapted but the couple cannot be sure of taking part in the figure skating World championships in Nice.
"It's a disaster. We are very fit and our goal is to be world champions in Nice, in our country," the 28-year-old Pechalat said.
Pechalat and Bourzat retained their continental title last January in Sheffield.
The World championships take place in Nice from March 26 to April 1.
