Manager Roy Hodgson has received praise for guiding England to top spot in Group D with two wins and a draw, but did he get it wrong against Italy?
England dropped deeper and deeper as the match went on - allowing Italy copious possession and failing to pressurise key man Andrea Pirlo.
However, the Three Lions did keep a clean sheet, and some better penalties would have seen them through to the last four.
