England went unbeaten during qualifying but it was a somewhat unconvincing performance at times.
A 0-0 draw at home to Montenegro was hugely disappointing while even the final qualifier with the same country was tinged with disappointment as England were held to a 2-2 draw and lost Wayne Rooney to a red card which rules him out of the first two games of the finals.
In between, England enjoyed some impressive performances such as a 2-0 win at Wales and a 3-0 win at Bulgaria.
Since qualifying, England have won four of their five friendlies by a scoreline of 1-0, including a home victory over world and European champions Spain on November 12.
They were defeated 3-2 at home by Netherlands under caretaker Stuart Pearce, and Fabio Capello's replacement Roy Hodgson has warmed up for the finals with narrow wins over Norway and Belgium.
