Serie A - Chelsea thump Juventus to make NextGen semi-finals

Chelsea booked their place in the semi-finals of the NextGen Series with a 4-1 victory over Juventus at Griffin Park.

The game exploded into life in the 11th minute when Chelsea captain Lewis Baker struck a thunderbolt into the top corner from 25-yards to make it 1-0.

The Blues played with a very high tempo in the opening exchanges and were 2-0 up after fourteen minutes when Alex Kiwomya slotted past Constantin Branescu after being played in by Jeremie Boga.

The Italians were being outmuscled all over the pitch and the hosts looked very comfortable, taking a 2-0 lead into the break.

After the break, Juventus looked a different prospect and began to play with a lot more confidence.

The side from Turin were unbeaten in the tournament going into the game and looked to have found a way back into the tie when Daniele Rugani flicked on an excellent free-kick from Stefano Beltrame past Jamal Blackman to make it 2-1 in the 72nd minute.

The Blues began to look nervous as the game neared the finish but quickfire goals from Islam Feruz and a second from Baker meant Chelsea ran out deserved 4-1 winners and booked their place in the last four of the tournament.

Chelsea will now travel to Lake Como over the Easter weekend to play in the NextGen Series Finals weekend.
