Internazionale and Juventus conceded their respective 100% starts to the Serie A season, sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw following an enthralling Derby d’Italia at the San Siro.
An intensely contested first half saw few chances created by either side, although Paul Pogba should have done better after scuffing his shot from a matter of yards having been picked out with a raking long pass by Andrea Pirlo.
The hosts built up a head of steam as the second half progressed and broke the deadlock after 73 minutes, when Icardi netted his first goal for the Milan club, latching on to Alvarez’s well-timed through-ball to finish past Gianluigi Buffon.
However, the Serie A champions responded immediately, with Vidal sweeping home from 10 yards following good build-up play by Pirlo at the byline.
Juventus should have claimed all three points right at the death, but Mauricio Isla sliced his relatively straight-forward shot at the back post, after Samir Handanovic had saved from Vidal’s towering header.
