The Czech's second-place finish and Andreas Mikkelsen's fifth place mean that Kopecky is only 13 points behind the standings leader.
And the team's strong performance means that SKODA now holds a 64-point advantage over rival makers Peugeot.
Factory SKODA driver Kopecky said: “This rally was one of the most difficult events in my career so far. We did our best to win here, putting in all we could.”
