The China Open, the last ranking event for the seeding positions, finished on Sunday night with Neil Robertson beating Mark Selby 10-6 in the final.
Defending champion O’Sullivan is top seed, with world number one Selby second. The structure of the draw means that Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ali Carter could meet in the last-16, a repeat of the 2012 and 2008 finals, should they both overcome qualifiers in the first round.
The seeds will be drawn against the 16 qualifiers in the random draw which will be take place at 1.30pm on Monday April 15.
The qualifying rounds kick off on Thursday April 4 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and run until April 14, the day before the draw for the first round proper.
Six-times beaten finalist Jimmy White will face either Tian Pengfei or Martin O’Donnell in his opening match and will then have to beat Xiao Guodong and Robert Milkins to make it to the Crucible.
Steve Davis, six times a world champion, will meet either Craig Steadman, David Grace or Kurt Maflin, and if he wins his first match he’ll take on fellow former champion Peter Ebdon in the final round.
Belgium’s Luca Brecel, who became the youngest player ever to compete at the Crucible last year, faces Fraser Patrick in his first match this time around.
The World Championship runs from April 20 to May 6.
