White, a six-times finalist at the Crucible, downed his Chinese opponent 10-7 as he entered at the sixth round of qualifying for the event which starts on April 20.
The popular 50-year-old is now just two wins away from clinching a spot at what would be his 26th World Championships appearance.
The veteran has not reached the main draw since 2006, when he lost in the first round.
Tepchaiya Un-Nooh, Zhang Anda, Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon, James Wattana and Kurt Maflin also stayed alive with wins in the not-yet completed sixth round.
In the fifth round amateur Joe Swail continued his march through qualifying with a 10-8 victory over India's Pankaj Advani.
The former pro, who was as high as number 10 in the world at one stage in his career, now has five straight wins to his name.
Swail, who has reached the World Championship semis twice - in 2000 and 2001 - and the last 16 a further four times, must beat Adam Duffy next in the fifth round.
