Week 31 sees the Basques welcome Madrid to San Mames for the final time in the stadium’s history, before the club move into the San Mames Barria for 2013-14.
For Susaeta, beating the reigning League champions is an opportunity that the team must take, to provide a fitting tribute to the ground.
“San Mames would deserve something more,” the winger told reporters this week.
“I know it has been a difficult season, in Europe we went wrong, in the Cup also, whilst the League we are not having the best of seasons, far from it.
“And what better way than against Real Madrid to bring joy to the fans, to San Mames and to ourselves.
“The team will go out to play against Madrid and to produce a complete performance against an opponent with the best players in the world. We will need a perfect match.
“The key will be in defence. I think they are the best team in the world on the counter-attack and, if we are good, then we will have our chances. And if we are successful then we will also have a chance to win the game.”
