The Spain striker has been left out in the cold for almost a year thanks to appalling injury troubles and the red-hot form of his team-mates in his absence, leading to speculation that he would leave the Camp Nou.
Arsenal were among the clubs rumoured to be considering a £15 million bid for the 30-year-old, but Vilanova has insisted that the forward is to say with the runaway La Liga leaders.
"David Villa is not leaving," Vilanova said.
"We know how important he is to the team. He scored twice the other day. He is still coming back from a long injury, and each time he gets more minutes.
"But he had some more problems. Last year we missed him a lot in the second half of the season."
