Event organizers will now wait for better conditions before the competition resumes.
"As projected, we have stormy conditions out there today and have called competition off for the day," ASP International Head Judge, Rich Porta, said.
"We anticipate improving conditions over the next few days and will return tomorrow morning to make another call."
When it does resume, first up will be Australia’s Taj Burrow’s match-up with 18-year-old American Kolohe Andino in heat three of the third round.
The event plays a crucial role in both the hunt for the 2012 ASP World Title and the requalification campaigns of the world’s best surfers.
