Event organisers decided to call off the day’s scheduled action, instead opting to reconvene at 6:30am on Thursday to assess conditions for a possible 7am start.
“After assessing conditions throughout this morning, we’ve opted to call a lay day for competition today,” said Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge. “We anticipate conditions to improve over the next several days and will return again tomorrow morning to make another call.”
When it does finally get underway, the 2013 ASP World Championship and Women’s World Championship Tours will see the best surfers on the planet will battle it out for event Nos. 3 and 5 of the Billabong Rio Pro and Colgate Plax Girls Rio Pro.
