Former England captain Tindall had left the club at the end of the season after being deemed surplus to requirements by Bryan Redpath.
But new Cherry and Whites rugby director Nigel Davies has made the 33-year-old World Cup winner his first signing since taking over at Kingsholm.
Tindall will help with defence coaching and backs coaching.
