    Clermont join Toulouse on top

    Clermont moved level with Toulouse at the top of the Top 14 table after a convincing home win over Stade Francais.

    The Heineken Cup semi-finalists took full advantage of Toulouse's defeat to Perpignan on Friday night by beating the Parisians 25-9.

    Benoit Cabello scored the only try of the game for the home side with Brock James adding 20 points with the boot.

    The two teams are all but guaranteed semi-final spots with just three games remaining.

    Third place Toulon are now 15 points behind the pair after losing 22-13 at Agen.

    Montpellier are currently on course for a home quarter-final in the play-offs after they beat Lyon 43-12 at home.

    Racing Metro are fifth after a 40-19 win over Brive while Bayonne boosted their survival hopes with a 24-19 home success over Biarritz.

    Castres beat Bordeaux-Begles 44-20 in the evening game and lie in the final play-off spot.

    The top six in the Top 14 reach the play-offs and the top two receive byes into the semi-finals which they get to host.
