World number nine Smith also progressed as a heat winner while Perrow caused the upset of the day, defeating former winner Adrian Buchan and last year’s runner-up Julian Wilson.
When competition resumes on Monday, world number two Joel Parkinson will face Wiggolly Dantas in the opening heat of round two.
