UFC Monterrey Weigh-in Results: No Troubles for Kelvin Gastelum or Diego Sanchez

UFC Monterrey Fighter Bonuses: Andre Fili's Quick KO Scores $50,000

The Ultimate Fighting Championship lands in Monterrey, Mexico, for the first time this week for UFC Fight Night 78: Magny vs. Gastelum.

The card originally featured Kelvin Gastelum vs. Matt Brown in the main event, but a late scratch by Brown left an opening for Neil Magny, who has become the UFC's go-to guy in the welterweight division. He's fought on short notice on several occasions, but this will be one of his biggest opportunities yet.

This will be Magny's tenth fight in the past two years. He's been very successful during that span, too, winning eight of his nine previous bouts, and rocketing into the mix of title contenders.

Gastelum, who has lost only one fight in his 12-bout career, is looking for a bit of redemption, albeit of a personal nature. His lone loss was to Tyron Woodley early this year after blowing the weigh-in, missing the mark by nine pounds. He was then forced to take a middleweight bout his last time out, but is now being given the opportunity to redeem himself at welterweight.

Magny and Gastelum both hit the mark at Friday's weigh-in, Gastelum clearing the hurdle that has tripped him up several times in his career.

The UFC Fight Night 78 co-main event marks Diego Sanchez‘s featherweight debut, and he's not get an easy indoctrination into the division. After both made weight, Sanchez face No. 4 ranked 145-pounder Ricardo Lamas in his divisional debut.
