In the men’s freestyle competition (21 nations), the gold was divided among only three nations, i.e. Turkey (120kg/Taha AKGUL & 66kg/Mustafa KAYA), Russia (55kg/Khuresh-Ool DONDUK-OOL & 96kg/Marat IBRAGIMOV) and Iran (74kg/Reza AFZALIPAEMAMI & 84kg/Meisam MOSTAFAJOUKAR). Top nations in the medal table are these three countries as well: Russia (2-0-3), Turkey (2-1-1) and Iran (2-1-1).
In the women’s freestyle competition (17 nations), Japan (48kg/Yuki IRIE & 59kg/Yurika ITO) and Ukraine (55kg/Iryna HUSYAK & 63kg/Yuliya OSTAPCHUK) topped the gold podium, followed by Canada (51kg/Genevieve HALEY), Russia (67kg/Yulia PRONTSEVICH) and USA (72kg/Adeline GRAY). In the same week, USA wrestler Gray became FILA and FISU World Champion! Top three countries in the medal table are Ukraine (2-0-3), Japan (2-0-2) and Canada (1-2-2).
In the men’s Greco-Roman competition (20 nations), the gold podium was dominated by the Iranian wrestlers (120kg/Bashir BABAJANZADEH, 74kg/Hadi ALIZADEHPOURNIA & 84kg/Taleb NEMATPOUR), followed by Russia (96kg/Nikita MELNIKOV), Hungary (66kg/ISTVAN KOZAK), Moldova (60kg/Donior ISLAMOV) and USA (55kg/Max NOWRY). The Russians lead the medal table (1-2-2), followed by Turkey (0-2-2), Belarus (0-1-2), Hungary (1-1-0) and USA (1-0-1). Host Finland took the only medal in the GR competition. Pekka Rintimaki won the bronze in the 84kg category.
