Uriah Hall Draws Joe Riggs at UFC Fight Night Nashville

Uriah Hall will meet Joe Riggs in a middleweight bout at UFC Fight Night 73 in Nashville. UFC officials announced the bout on Friday. It will take place on Aug. 8 at Bridgestone Arena.

Entering the Octagon via the seventeenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, Hall (10-5) was widely regarded as “the next big thing.” Those expectations took a major blow when he lost the TUF 17 Finale to Kelvin Gastelum and his next fight to John Howard.

Hall rebounded by winning his next three fights, but stumbled again his last time out when he lost a split decision to Rafael Natal at UFC 187.

To say that Riggs' (40-16, 1 NC) return to the UFC has been a rough one would be an understatement. Initially planning to return in September of 2014, Riggs suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound that sidelined him for several weeks.

He finally got back in the Octagon in December, but lost to Ben Saunders. Riggs followed that with a loss to Patrick Cote in April. So he's desperate to get a victory over Hall, otherwise, he may be looking at another pink slip.

Hall and Riggs will fight as part of UFC Fight Night 73, in support of a light heavyweight main event pitting Glover Teixeira vs. Ovince St. Preux.
