Wiggins’s last appearance in a Team Sky jersey came in Paris when he became the first British rider to win the Tour de France.
Since then Wiggins claimed the gold medal in the Olympic time trial.
He will be joined by Mark Cavendish and newly-crowned Olympic team pursuit gold medallists Peter Kennaugh and Geraint Thomas.
Stagiaire Davide Martinelli, Lars-Petter Nordhaug, Luke Rowe and Michael Rogers round off the team for the race which runs between August 22 and 26.
