Stadnik, who missed out on the London 2012 Olympics with Olga Butkevych Team GB's sole wrestler, is the only Brit at the Europeans where she was competing in the freestyle -48kg category.
The 26-year-old saw off Anna Lukasiak, Fredrika Ida Petersson and world bronze medallist Patimat Bagomedova on route to the final but she couldn't overcome Valeriya Chepsarakova to win gold.
Stadnik lost 2-0 in the final to the Russian settling for a second European Championship silver medal in Georgia having won her first three years ago in the Azerbaijan capital city of Baku.
Wrestling, which has only failed to feature at the modern Olympics once at Paris 1900, was dropped from the list of core sports at the 2020 Games in February and must now be considered for re-entry.
It will compete with baseball/softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and the Chinese martial art of wushu for the one available spot on the 2020 programme.
The final decision will be made at the International Olympic Committee's annual session in Argentina in September where the members will also choose the host city for the 2020 Games.
