Prospective Reading owner Anton Zingarevich is confident the club can establish themselves as a top-10 force in the Barclays Premier League.
Russian-born businessman Zingarevich agreed to buy 51% of the Royals from John Madejski through his Thames Sport Investments vehicle in January.
Brian McDermott has subsequently steered the Berkshire outfit to the npower Championship title and in five years' time, Zingarevich believes they can be established in the top half of the top flight.
He told Sky Sports News: "You have the great people here and I think there is big potential in this club.
"I spent a couple of years here in Reading which were great, something that I will always remember. When the opportunity came up, of course there was a linkage, which was also important.
"I think the infrastructure is something that we can work on. But in five years, I think we can make a top-10 club in England."
