Katie Bell Biography

Bell is heading to her first Olympics to compete in the women's platform competition after finishing second to Brittany Viola in the US trials with a total score of 1024.4. It's been a long road to the games for Bell, who has been competing internationally since 2005 but whose career was threatened by a shoulder injury in 2010. She's come back strong, placing second at both the 2011 and 2012 USA Diving Winter National Championships before qualifying at the trials in June. She won the platform competition at the 2009 AT&T National Diving Championships with a total score of 346.95. Her top international showing to date was a 12th-place finish at the 2011 USA Diving Grand Prix. An Ohio State product, Bell has seven siblings and was also involved in gymnastics as a child.
