Steffen Peters Biography

Born in Germany, Peters moved to the U.S. in 1985 and began riding for his adopted country in 1992. He has been extremely successful in the U.S., participating in numerous championships and earning many national titles. In 1996 in Atlanta, Peters won his first Olympic medal, a team bronze, and was the alternate on the 2004 Athens team. With Floriano, the pair swept all three phases of competition at the 2006 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National Grand Prix Dressage Championship which led to an anchor spot on the bronze-winning team at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games. Peters will be riding Four Winds Farm's Legolas 92 and Ravel in London. Peters and Ravel have had a remarkable run dating to before the 2008 Beijing Games, when Ravel won every single competition he entered. Peters finished fourth at those Games by the slimmest of margins but quickly rebounded in 2009, winning the Grand Prix at the Exquis Dressage World Masters along with the Grand Prix and the Freestyle at the Rolex FEI World Cup. Last year was no different as the pair took home top honors in the Grand Prix Test, Grand Prix Special and Grand Prix Freestyle championships. Peters partnered with Weltino's Magic to represent the U.S. at the 2011 Pan American Games and took top honors in individual and team competition. Peters operates a busy training facility in the San Diego area with his wife Shannon.
