Melissa Gonzalez Biography
Gonzalez had a solid career at Connecticut, recording 27 goals and four assists. She earned All-American honors in 2009 and '10 and was the 2010 Mideast Region player of the year. In each of her final two seasons with the Huskies, Gonzalez was the Big East defensive player of the year and in 2010 helped them reach the NCAA tournament semifinals. A member of the U.S. Under-21 team in 2008, Gonzalez was named to the national team in 2009 and helped the squad earn a berth for the London Games with an upset of Argentina at the Pan American Games.
