Teun de Nooijer Biography
De Nooijer is making his fifth and possibly his final Olympic appearance. He's looking for his fourth medal and third gold after a disappointing fourth-place finish in Beijing in 2008. One of the world's greatest field hockey players, de Nooijer is a three-time International World Hockey Player of the Year and has scored 11 goals in 28 Olympic games. He also has been named to five straight international all-star appearances. De Nooijer started playing field hockey at the age of nine and was named to the Dutch under-16 team two years later. At 15, he made his debut on the senior national team. De Nooijer currently plays for the Dutch squad HC Bloemendaal. He helped lead the Netherlands to a third-place finish at the 2011 Champions Trophy and the 2010 World Cup.
