Travis Stevens Biography
Ranked 10th in the mens -81kg division by the IJF as of May 19, Stevens heads to London with high expect ions. He has overcome an injury-plagued past to take the sport by storm, winning gold at the 2011 Dusseldorf Grand Prix and finishing second at the Pan American Games. Coached by Jason Morris, Stevens is hoping for redemption after a disappointing finish at the 2008 Games. Stevens, 22 years old at the time, placed ninth in Beijing after losing to eventual champion Ole Bischof and then again in the quarterfinals of the repechage bracket. However, with another four years of experience under his belt, Stevens is feeling more confident and appears more likely to not return home empty handed this time around. He joins Kayla Harrison, Marti Malloy, Kyle Vashkulat and Nick Delpopolo on the U.S. national team.
