    15:15 - China's Tong Wen takes the final judo gold of the games, defeating defending champion Maki Tsukada in the women's 78kg class. With 15 seconds left, Tong snatched a dramatic victory.

    13:15 - 21-year-old Japanese Ishii Satoshi took the last judo gold of the Beijing Olympics by defeating Abdullo Tangriev from Uzbekistan with a yuko in the men's over 100kg class. Oscar Brayson of Cuba defeated Mohammad Reza Rodaki of Iran via two waza-ari and pre-event favourite Teddy Riner of France beat Lasha Gujejiani of Georgia with an ippon to take the bronzes.

    12:30 - China won their third judo gold as Tong Wen beat defending Olympic champion Tsukada Maki of Japan with an ippon in the final seconds of the women's 78kg and over final. Lucija Polavder of Slovenia defeated Kim Na-young of South Korea with a koka to win a bronze medal in the event. Idalys Ortiz of Cuba accounted for Tserenkhand Dorjgotov of Mongolia with an ippon to win the other bronze.

    09:25 - In the men's over-100kg, unheralded Abdullo Tangriev will fight Cuba's Oscar Brayson for a place in the final, after upsetting raging favourite Teddy Riner of France in their quarter-final. The French world champion, who survived a draining extra-time bout against Tunisia's Anis Chedli in his opening round, was penalised for passivity, effectively gifting the Uzbek the match. Japan's Satoshi Ishii humbled Athens silver medallist Tamerlan Tmenov in their quarter-final and will meet two-time world bronze medallist Lasha Gujejiani in the semis.

    09:20 - Triple world champion Tong Wen stormed into the semi-finals of the women's heavyweight category, needing less than five minutes to dispose of her three preliminary round opponents. Tong, dubbed "the Great Wall of China", will fight Cuba's Idalys Ortiz for a place in the final. Athens champion Maki Tsukada of Japan will meet Slovenia's Lucija Polavder in the other semi.
