Christina Giazitzidou Biography
Giazitzidou arrives in London after winning the lightweight double sculls with Alexandra Tsiavou at the 2011 world championships. The pairing took second at that event in 2010 after winning by more than five seconds in 2009. Giazitzidou and Tsiavou, who have been rowing together since 2009, were named the 2011 world rowing female crew of the year. They have finished first at the European rowing championships each year since '09, and Giazitzidou is a three-time U-23 world champion. She started rowing in 2007 and was part of the handover ceremony of the Olympic flame May 17, carrying it into Athens’ Panathenaic Stadium.
