Giuseppe Lanzone Biography
Lanzone will compete in his second Olympics this summer after being part of the U.S. team that finished ninth in the coxless four at the Beijing Games. The 29-year-old helped the Americans finish fourth in the fours at the 2011 world championships and he’ll compete in the eights in London after being part of the crew that won the final Olympic qualification regatta in May. Lanzone was named the 2010 USRowing athlete of the year after winning the Stewards’ Challenge Cup, taking silver in the four at the Rowing World Cup and finishing fifth at the world championships in the four. During his time at the University of Washington, Lanzone was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection and a two-time winner in the varsity eights at the conference championships. Lanzone was born in La Punta, Peru, and lived in Lima until he was 15, when his family moved to Virginia. The former high school football standout is also a model.
