Sandra Uptagrafft Biography
After competing internationally for nearly two decades, Uptagrafft will make her first Olympic appearance. The U.S. Navy reservist and wife of fellow Olympian Eric Uptagrafft is set to take part in the 25-meter pistol in London. Uptagrafft, an information systems technician and petty officer first class, spent nine months in Afghanistan from 2010-11 as part of the 3rd Naval Construction Regiment but was given a chance to compete at the 2010 world championships, where she finished eighth in the 10-meter air pistol. Uptagrafft came in third in that event at the 2011 Pan Am Games and earned a silver medal in the 25-meter pistol. She won gold medals at the Pan Am Games in 2003 and 2007, and is a two-time silver medalist at the Championship of the Americas. Uptagrafft won a national title in the 25-meter pistol in 2011 and finished second in the air pistol.
