Karine Sergerie Biography
After becoming the first Canadian to ever win Olympic silver in taekwondo at the Beijing Games, Sergerie heads to London looking to tack on to her legacy. Ranked No. 2 in the world in the 67 kg weight class coming into the summer, Sergerie seems unlikely to return home empty handed. Winner of 41 of 51 registered fights over the course of her career, Sergerie will be joined by Sebastien Michaud and Francois Coulombe-Fortier on the Canadian national team. Besides her silver in Beijing, Sergerie's resume includes a first-place finish at the 2007 world championships, a second-place finish at the 2003 worlds and third-place finishes at the 2005 and '11 worlds. She also won gold at the 2009 Paris Open, 2010 German and Dutch Opens, and the 2010 Pan American championships.
