Jason Richardson Biography

A tattoo aficionado who's most known for his flowing mane of dreadlocks, Richardson promised himself he'd get some new ink if he could break the 13-second mark in the 110m hurdles at the U.S. Olympic trials in June. After running a 12.98, the only remaining question is what to get, and where. Richardson won gold at the NACAC Under-23 championships in 2008, his final season at the University of South Carolina, and went on to compete at the U.S. trials, but a hamstring injury in the qualifiers ruled out his chances of going to Beijing. He turned pro a year later, but his biggest accomplishment to date came in 2011, when he ran a 13.16 to win gold in the 110m hurdles at the World championships. He'll be among the favorites to medal in London as well, but a crowded field that includes fellow American Aries Merritt - who finished five one-hundredths of a second ahead of him at the trials in June - won't make it easy.
