Paul Lotman Biography

Lotman will be counted on for depth and likely be a substitute for serving purposes on the U.S. squad as he makes his first Olympic appearance. The outside hitter helped the U.S. qualify for London as it won the NORCECA Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament, scoring four of his 10 points via ace. He had a productive 2011 campaign, finishing sixth among U.S. players with 130 points in 85 sets over four tournaments. That year, Lotman saw his most extensive playing time in the London Volleyball Olympic International Invitational and totaled 39 points in 17 sets, and he also had 38 points in helping the U.S. place second in the NORCECA Men's Continental Championship. Lotman has bounced around Europe at the club level with stops in Greece, France and Italy and helped current Polish squad Asseco Resovia Rzeszow win the Plus Liga championship in April. At Long Beach State, Lotman shared AVCA co-player of the year honors with Olympic teammate Matt Anderson in 2008 while helping the 49ers to the NCAA tournament semifinals. He is one of three players from Long Beach State on the team along with David Lee and David McKienzie.
