Brenda Villa Biography

A veteran attacker who has been a member of Team USA since 1998, Villa and teammate Heather Petri will each be seeking a fourth Olympic medal in London. The duo has been a part of every women's Olympic water polo team the USA has ever fielded. While the 5-foot-4 Villa may be the smallest player on the American national team by stature, she more than makes up for it by being the most decorated player on the roster. She was named Female Water Polo Player of the Decade for 2000-10 by FINA Magazine. A strong passer as well as a top scoring threat, Villa tied for the team lead with nine goals and added five assists to help the US capture a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics. She shows no signs of slowing down, either, having tallied eight goals at the 2012 FINA World League Super Final. Villa plays professionally in Italy, and has been playing water polo ever since she was eight years old.
