Kelsey Campbell Biography

Campbell upset top seed Helen Maroulis at the U.S. Olympic trials to earn her first Olympic berth. Campbell, who typically wrestles at the non-Olympics weight class of 59kg, was upset in the first round of the 2011 world championships at 59kg and finished 14th. She has alternated between the two weight classes, with success in both. Campbell was the gold medalist at the 2011 Pan American championships and also won the Sunkist Kids International Open, both at 55kg. She won the 2012 Mongolian Open, 2011 Poland Open and the 2010 Sunkist Kids International Open at 59kg, which followed a fifth-place finish at the 2010 worlds. Campbell, who excelled at several sports in high school - she won 12 letters combined in cross country, track and field, soccer, wrestling, basketball and dance - claimed back-to-back NCAA titles while attending Arizona State in 2007-08. She moved to Arizona to help open a church and enjoys singing, music and dance. Campbell currently trains in Colorado Springs, Colo., at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
