  • - Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar joined us for a live webchat on Monday at 5pm. Below is the complete transcript of all your questions and Carlos's answers!

  • - ---------

  • - CARLOS SAYS: Thanks for your time everybody, it's been a pleasure to answer all your questions from here in Birmingham. Cheers!

  • - A: Hi Lawrence! My solution to your cat problem is simple: put him ni front of the telly when Aston Villa are playing, and he'll stay right there in front of the screen unable to move!

  • - Q: Mr Cuellar - can you advise on the best way to stop my cat scratching at the carpet near the front door when he wants to go out? I've tried putting down mats and making threats of violence but nothing seems to work. (Lawrence)

  • - A: The biggest key to the long season is getting plenty of rest after exercise and be careful with injuries. As for Villa's qualities? We've got a fantastic atmoshere and some great players, and even though we don't have so many household names in the squad we play at a very high level.

  • - Q: I've got two questions for you: how do you cope with such a demanding season, playing as many matches as you do in England? And what are the qualities that Villa have that have got you fighting for a Champions League spot?

  • - A: Hi Txemas, I've enjoyed playing everywhere I've been, with great team-mates and good atmospheres in the dressing room. Every year things keep getting better and the best is yet to come! But Pamplona will always have a special place in my heart. I spent four great years of my life there.

  • - Q: Is Pamplona where you enjoyed playing the most and did it launch you on your career? (Txema)

  • - A: We've got some great players, but if I had to pick one out I'd say Stewart Downing.

  • - Q: Who is the best player out of your team-mates? (juancho_mg)

  • - A: Hi JENN. There's not a lot I can say, I haven't heard anything directly about him. But he's a player who has spent many years scoring a lot of goals in Spain, which is tough to do.

  • - Q: What do you think of Raul Tamudo of Espanol? He was my favourite player, but now... I don't know. (JENN)

  • - A: It's a tough one, but I'd have to say Rooney in England and Ronaldinho when I was back in Spain.

  • - Q: Which player has been the toughest opponent you've come up against? (marc.terres)

  • - A: It depends, I'm happy here and it would all depend on what the club wanted to do.

  • - Q: If you were to get an offer from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or any other Spanish team, would you head home? (vicedo_90)

  • - A: I definitely got recognition for the player award in Britain, both in Scotland and England, but I didn't get the recognition in Spain considering the prestige of the award and the difficulty of winning it as a defender. Off the top of my head I think I scored six or seven goals that season, but I'm not sure because I think some were in friendlies. Ashley is good enough to play for any team in any league, he has great ability to put the ball in the box and is brilliant one-on-one.

  • - Q: Do you think you got enough credit for winning player of the season in Scotland as a centre-back? How many goals did you score that season? And your team-mate Ashley Young came close to a move to Real Madrid last season. Is he getting ready to move to Spain? And if you were to move back to Spain would you go to Barca or Real Madrid? (Noesmocodepavo)

  • - A: The biggest difference is that we spend more time at the training complex together in England: breakfast, training, gym work, lunch). In Spain we spend more time away from each other once training is over. It's a different mentality. As for the python - Titan was his name - I left it behind in Pamplona with a snake expert!

  • - Q: What's the difference in the changing room atmosphere between England and Spain? And whatever happened to that Python you used to keep in Pamplona? (Jo_Santacruz)

  • - A: Yes. It was a sending off offence in any league in the world; it was still a blow to the face even if it didn't appear that he was trying to do it. It never for a second looked to me as if he was trying to hurt anyone, it was just a natural reaction. It was involuntary aggression.

  • - Q: Hi Carlos, great to be able to speak to you. I'd like to know if you think Cristiano Ronaldo would have been sent off for what he did yesterday if he'd still been England? It seemed a travesty to me! (Diecisiete) Ronaldo breaks opponent's nose

  • - A: Hi Jose Manuel. My years at Numancia were two great seasons that served as my apprenticeship, with wonderful people, that has stood me in good stead for the rest of my career.

  • - Q: Hi Carlos - how did you enjoy your time at Numancia? (Jose Manuel P)

  • - A: Hi Antonio. All I'll say is that there's a lot of nerves and tension in football, and sometimes you lose control of your own actions.

  • - Q: What was worse: Ronaldo's smash in the face (against Malaga on Sunday) or Pepe's assault last season? (Antonio)

  • - A: Hi Vass. I drink a lot of liquid and energy drinks, as much to keep my carb levels up throughout the physical activity. But from hotel to the changing room, from the team bus to the field itself, I don't have any particular rituals.

  • - Q: How do you prepare for a game? I mean like do you eat special meals on a matchday? Drink more water? Listen to music? Do you have some kind of special rituals? (Vass)

  • - A: What made me make the change were my ambitions in the sport and the chance to play in a league as competitive as the Premier League. The year with Rangers, though, was probably the best of my career and it was very hard for me to leave.

  • - Q: As an Aberdeen fan I'm wondering, what made you leave Rangers for Villa? Is it better there or did you enjoy Rangers more? (Mosherdosher)

  • - A: Hi Dillon - my Premier League side would be: Reina; Johnson, Cuéllar, Terry, Garrido; Young, Lampard, Barry, Dowing; Rooney and Torres.

  • - Q: If you had to pick a team from Premier League players who would you pick? (Dillon)

  • - A: Hi RoONey! The English league gives the most complete test of a player of the three leagues I've played in.

  • - Q: You've played in different leagues, so I would like to ask, what league do you think is the toughest? Overall? (RoOnEY)

  • - A: The managers are spot on, for us it's important to feel the support of the crowd pulling for us. Thankfully we have some of the best fans in England!

  • - Q: We've heard numerous times that managers ask their fans to be their 12th man before big games. But how much difference do the fans make during a game? Do fans, maybe at Villa Park, support the players through thick and thin? Is there a vast difference between the atmosphere at Villa Park and Old Trafford?

  • - A: Hi Stephan! Every match is important because we're always struggling to win a Champions League spot. We've also got a chance to go the whole way in the FA Cup, so you take it fight by fight, day by day, and it needs a lot of focus.

  • - Q: Carlos, you are playing 50+ games every season. I wonder if it is possible for any player to be fully motivated for each game. There surely is a difference between the upcoming League Cup final and a match against the likes of Stoke or Hull isn't there? (Stephan)

  • - A: Hi Daniel - we're not friends, but it would be massive and help us a lot if we could have David Villa.

  • - Hi Carlos, are you friends with David Villa? If so can you get him to sign up to play alongside Gabby (Agbonlahor), that would be awesome, thanks in advance! (Stephan)

  • A: Well Tony, it'll be a very difficult battle with Liverpool, City and Tottenham. We're the teams with the best chance - but I see it as possible.

  • - Q: Carlos, do you think Villa can qualify for the Champions League this season? (Tony)

  • - Hi Doug - My fellow Spanish players in England always treat me with a lot of respect, and they are great players who turn in great performances. It's a lot harder for overseas players to get picked for the national squad because it's harder for the coach to follow players in other countries. The players you've named are great examples of that.

  • - Carlos, what are your thoughts on Spanish players in the Premier League? Do you think it is harder to break into the national team if you¬ aren't playing in Spain? (Mikel) Arteta gets ignored when he is fit and (Cesc) Fabregas took longer than he should have to break into the team and even now he often starts as sub. (Doug E)

  • - A: I don't know if I'll receive any offers but we'll have to wait until the end of the season in any case! As for the two leagues, they are the two best in the world. Maybe you could say that the Premier League is more spectacular, because there tend to be more goals than in La Liga .

  • - Q: I'm certain that if you keep playing the way you have been this season you'll be made offers to return to Spain. Is it in your plans at the moment or no you not see an option to come home? And which is better, the Premier League or La Liga? (Pajarito)

  • - A: Hi Higuain. I remember those days well! At the moment I'm not thinking about coming back, I'm very happy taking the chance that Aston Villa have given me to play in the Premier League. In football you never really know anything about the future, but I'm not thinking about moving now. In my heart I still support Santo Angel and Tetuan Ventilla.

  • - Q: Hi Carlos, I'm from your neighbourhood in Madrid. I remember playing with you in local teams when we were kids - though I don't know if you'll remember me! Anyway, do you think you'll ever come back here? And which team do you follow in your heart? (From Higuain)

  • - We're just a few minutes away now from the start of the webchat with Carlos - hopefully things will kick off any minute.
