    • 80' Aussie defence is good as England try to find a gap. Geraghty chips ahead, Giteau takes and clears to touch. Aussies win 18-9 and deservedly so. Dominant second half performance from the Wallabies, while England really showed little in attack. Questions will be asked because they won enough ball, especially in the first half, but looked a bit clueless. Hopefully Wales can do better against New Zealand.
    • 80' England have penalty five metres from Aussies line, they win their throw but it looks too late.
    • 76' England looking much better now they are running it but it all looks a little too late. They also need more variety .
    • 74' Lawes smashed back in midfield and stripped of the ball. Aussies kick long and Banahan forced to kick for touch. Lineout Aussies just outside England 22. England pinch lineout and spread ball wide.
    • 73' Fantastic conversion from out wide by Giteau and Aussies lead 18-9. England need points and points quickly!
    • 72' Aussies go wide and Ashley-Cooper takes ball at speed on left wing and holds off several England tacklers to go over in the corner. Rubbish from Monye and Cueto though good strength from Ashley-Cooper. 16-9 Australia.
    • 70' Pocock on for Smith as Wilkinson forced into rearguard defence after clever kick from Genia.
    • 69' England have their tails up now. Hartley and haskell have given forwards real impetus. Lawes on for the last 10 minutes as England throw everything at the Aussies.
    • 64' Wilkinson makes half break and England at least trying to show some ambition. But it all looks a little too desperate, with individuals going on their own. Erinle on for Hipkiss.
    • 65' Lovely work form Haskell as he breaks clear. Ball is recycled and Wilkinson chips ahead and regathers his own ball before feeing Hodgson - lovely from the fly-half. Aussie defence is good but better ambition from England before Wilkinson drop at goal is badly struck.
    • 63 Hodgson on for Care.
    • 63' England try to keep it tight, but it is slow and Aussies read them easily. Giteau cuts Croft down and Aussies win penalty for holding on. Poor from the home side as Aussies kick down to their 22.
    • 61' Banahan puts up and under up and crashes into Ashley-Cooper but the full-back stands up well. Banahan down injured. England release Monye after good work from Geraghty and Wilkinson but Aussie defence is good.
    • 60' Polota Nau on for Moore in Wallabies front row.
    • 59' Penalty Wallabies for England collapsing scrum. Easy enough chance for Giteau and he gives Australia 11-9 lead.
    • 58' Bell on for Wilson, who took a knock early in the second half.
    • 57' Aussies crash through midfield and Genia puts Ione clear, but somehow the centre fails to score after Monye misses his tackle. But Palu knocks on and England again are fortunate. They should be well behind!
    • 56' Hartley on for Thompson. England need these changes.
    • 56' Monye charged down and Aussies have attacking scrum on England's 22.
    • 55' Geraghty mistake and Ione almost breaks free. Mitchell puts through grubber for Ashley-Cooper but ball just evades him - lucky for England, who are struggling to get back into this game!
    • 53' Haskell on for Crane. Can he give England pack so go forward?
    • 52' Good rolling maul from England and Geraghty finds gap in midfield. England continue attack and Wilkinson finds Monye who makes good ground before Aussie defence covers well.
    • 51' Cooper glides through tackles in midfield and sets up another attacking position. But England then win penalty for Aussies holding on. England under huge pressure.
    • 49' Penalty Australia and Giteau kicks them deep into England 22. Danger here again for the home side. Cooper almost puts Giteau clear but England force turnover and Wilkinson clears danger under pressure. Good work from Moody to force turnover! All Australia at the moment!
    • 47' Aussies somehow fail to score - huge overlap ignored by Elsom - but they have penalty out wide. Chance for Giteau to cut England's lead, which he does. England lead just 9-8.
    • 45' Wallabies begin the second half brightly and are stretching England early on. Elsom breaks tackle and sets up dangerous position. Ione goes close, Elsom stopped short and England are all over the place in terms of defence!
    • 41' Giteau gets second half underway and no changes to either side at the interval.
    • 40' Geraghty finds touch and ref blows for half-time. England just about deserve their lead but the Aussies look a real threat when they run at the home side. England need a little more variety in their attacking play if they are going to win this one. All to play for. England 9-5.
    • 39' Giteau goes for the gap but is nailed by Wilkinson and Moody in quick to win penalty for Aussie fly-half not releasing. Great defence from England and Wilkinson clears the danger.
    • 38' Aussies get some rhythm to their play and Robinson makes great burst deep into England 22 after pop up pass from Moore. England concede penalty as Aussie continue to attack. Danger here for England as Genia snipes. England defence holds firm - great tackle from Wilkinson - but Aussies have attacking scrum.
    • 36' Aussies attack England throw and knock on. But good effort from Elsom. England scrum and they move ball into midfield before bringing Banahan into play. Wilson again on the charge into midfield but this time he's isolated and concedes penalty. England attack looking a little to premeditated - they need a bit more cunning.
    • 34' Exciting passage of play as both sides try to attack but spill ball in doing so. Aussies finally concede penalty and allow Wilkinson to find touch on their 22.
    • 33' Banahan fails to heed ref's warning as he chaces Care kick and concedes penalty which Aussies kick to the England 22. Palu breaks first tackle and sets up good attacking position.
    • 30' Another penalty England for Aussies dropping scrum. Elsom's face looks bit of a bloody mess as Wilkinson kicks England towards halfway.
    • 28' England defensive line looking vulnerable when Aussies switch play and Genia again makes good ground. England lucky Aussies knock on.
    • 27' Superb drive from Wilson, Aussies concede penalty so Care tries crossfield kick for Moody and it almost comes off. England have simple penalty and Wilkinson makes it 9-5. Better from England.
    • 25' England lo0ok to get an edge in the forward driving play but Aussies can lap this up all day. Wilkinson puts up high ball, Banahan wins it and England have attacking position deep in Aussie 22.
    • 22' Giteau misses conversion but Aussies right back in this one. England will have to tighten up defence.
    • 21' Aussie testing England defence and genia finds a gap and nips over. Well played by the scrum-half, a real danger but a soft try to concede by England, who left a huge gap! 6-5 England.
    • 20' Huge tackle Wilson on Elsom, and he knocks the Aussie skipper backwards. Great effort from the young prop.
    • 19' Aussies counter well from Hynes and Cooper, Giteau and Palu continue attack and Aussies pressure England - before conceding penalty in home side's 22. Good defence from England but danger signs from the Wallabies.
    • 17' England scrum under pressure and Care knocks on. Scrum-half should really have cleared that one up!
    • 14' Aussies take quick lineout and are smothered by England chasers and concede penalty for holding on. Another chance for Wilkinson. Great press by England defence. Wilkinson from halfway line hits the upright - he'll see that as a miss!
    • 11' England pinch Aussie lineout on their 22 and good hands allows Geraghty to relieve the pressure. Nice steal from Borthwick.
    • 10' Fist penalty chance for Wilkinson from out wide and the World Cup winner slots it superbly. England 6-0 and Wilkinson has been back only 10 minutes and already making his mark!
    • 9' Penalty against Smith and Wilkinson kicks England down to Aussie 22. Good attacking position for England but Aussie tackling good. Penalty England for Hynes failing to roll away after good tackle on Monye.
    • 6' Croft wins another lineout and England keep it tight and drive at the Aussies. Wilkinson chips over the top but Aussies smart to the move and try to launch counter, but England tackling good.
    • 5' First scrum and England win free kick. Care takes quick tap and releases England backs, but handling not slick enough. But at least they are showing early ambition.
    • 3' England start strongly and win two lineout and set up series of attacks. Wilkinson gets in the pocket and lands drop goal. England 3-0. Welcome back Wilkinson!
    • 1' Wilkinson gets the game underway to a huge cheer.
    • - Twickenham goes silent for a minute on Remembrance weekend, can England make this a day to remember for their fans?
    • - Both teams are on the pitch and it's a a perfect afternoon for rugby - the sun is out and there is not too much wind.
    • - Rocky Elsom skippers the side in q quality back row with veteran George Smith and Wycliff Palu. Their battle with Moody, Crane and Croft could go a long way to deciding the outcome of this clash.
    • - The Aussies are also missing a couple of key players in Stirling Mortlock and Berrick Barnes, so Digby Ione and Quade Cooper start at centre.
    • - Danny Care forms a half-back pairing with Wilkinson, while the highly-talented Shane Geraghty is at centre with Dan Hipkiss. Ugo Monye switches to full-back while Mark Cueto and Matt Banahan are on the wings.
    • - Thompson forms part of a new-look front row and Johnson has had to call on Tim Payne and David Wilson due to injuries to his leading props. Moody is part of an all-Leicester back row with Tom Croft and Jordan Crane, while another Tiger - Louis Deacon - packs down in the second row with Borthwick.
    • - Back for England is their icon Jonny Wilkinson, who has been in great form for French club Toulon this season. Wilkinson is joined by fellow World Cup winners Steve Thompson and Lewis Moody in a side captained by Steve Borthwick.
    • - England's injury woes need little introduction - they were unable to call on over 20 players for this game - but they should have enough experience and talent to give a mis-firing Aussie team a run for their money, especially at Twickenham.
    • - Good afternoon and welcome to Eurosport's online coverage of England v Australia from Twickenham, the first of three autumn internationals for Martin Johnson's men.

  4. England were shambolic today!! Same old England!!! Why were we not able to attack the ozzie ackline once in the entire game!! I'm ashamed to be an English rugby fan after this one!! At the moment England would be lucky to avoid the wooden spoon at the 6 nations at the moment!! If you can't score tries, you might as well not bother to participate!!

  8. Surely the powers behind English rugby must realise that England will continue to be a poor International side unless something is done about the number of foreign players playing in the UK. Where can our own talent be nutured? How many British players are there in the the super 14 teams - jack ----! Regional sides on the Celtic nations have improved the the International player base - England wake up. After yet another inept performance other than a number of excellent individual efforts I wonder why I bother to watch. All we do is give the Aussies more to crow about - when will the day arrive when I can watch English international side smash the likes of Australia of the park with aggressive/skilled and high tempo rugby - not likely is it. As to jonny Wilkinson go back to France and play injury free rugby until retirement - you've done your bit for England and more - let someone else do it now before you get clattered again.
